This Isn't The Way To Run An Airline, SC Draws Up SpiceJet

Supreme Court on January 28, stayed Madras High Court order for three weeks, in which SpiceJet-airlines were asked to windup its operations for failing to make a payment of $24 million to Credit-Suisse. "If you don't want to run the airlines, we will declare you insolvent. This is not the way to run an airline," The Apex Court bench said. Pertinently, SpiceJet has been asked to try settling with Credit-Suisse.

Ranji Trophy 2022 To Be Held In Phases, Says Jay Shah

The Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary Jay Shah on January 28, announced Ranji Trophy 2022 scheduled in two phases. Notably, league matches would be conducted in the Phase-I, while the knockouts will be held in June as Phase II. Earlier, on January 4, the baord postponed the Ranji Trophy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the BCCI is planning to finish matches before knockouts in June.

Amazon Cuts Down COVID Paid Leaves For Employees: US

Amid Covid-19, Amazon has shortened its isolation policy to seven days from ten, for a total of up to 40 hours of paid leave, the company announced on January 7. Regardless of vaccination status, the policy is effective immediately, applying to all its US employees. The company said that employees must report a positive diagnosis, and additional leaves are available for those who are still sick after one week.

15,421 New COVID-19 Cases, 19 Deaths Reported In West Bengal

West Bengal reported 15,421 new COVID-19 cases, while 19 people lost their lives to the virus, during the last twenty-four hours. The data of the state health department, released on January 6, stated that 7,343 people recovered from the infection, taking the total recoveries to 16,32,797. The death toll due to the virus stands at 19,846, and the state has currently 41,101 active cases.
