India's Omicron Cases Tally At 101: Union Secretary Lav Agarwal
Omicron cases are rising rapidly in India, taking the total to 101 cases, on December 17, said Lav Agarwal, the Joint Secretary of Union Health Ministry. "World Health Organisation (WHO) has said that Omicron is spreading faster than the Delta Variant in South Africa, where Delta circulation was low, ," said Agarwal. Furthermore, he lauded the efforts of Indian Government of vaccinating people and controlling the situation efficiently.

Official Who Led COVID Briefings Tests Positive for the Coronavirus
Health Ministry's Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal, who became the face of the ministry for its COVID-19 briefings, tested positive for coronavirus on August 14. Agarwal took on twitter and informed, "Dear All, Just to inform that I have tested positive for COVID 19 and initiating home isolation as per guidelines". While informing about contact tracing, he requested his friends and colleagues for self-monitoring.
