Experts reported on September 30 that lava from erupting volcano on La Palma in Spain's Canary Islands began pouring into the ocean two days ago, raising fears about poor air quality in surrounding residential areas. It's being cautioned that a predicted shift in the wind might bring additional dangers. In Tazacorte, people have been advised to stay at home as sulphur dioxide levels rose in atomosphere.

Indigenous mobile brand Lava International on January 7 launched the world's first customisable phone. The series named MyZ will enable customers to select the components from up to 66 combinations of camera, RAM, ROM and colour available from the company's website.
