Stop Calling "My Lord" "Lordship", SC Judge Asks Lawyers To Use Sir

Supreme Court Justice calls out on lawyers and asks them not to refer judges as "my lord" or "lordship.".  "I'll give half my salary, if you stop calling My lord." said Justice Narasimha. He asked lawyers to use "sir" instead. This is to be noted, in 2006, the Bar Council of India had passed a resolution deciding no advocate will address judges as "My Lord" and "Your Lordship".

Lawyers Can Work In Hybrid Mode, Says CJI DY Chandrachud

In a relief to lawyers. the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said that lawyers are free to appear virtually. The decision was taken amid the rising number of Novel Coronavirus. On April 5, the CJI Chandrachud said, "We saw newspaper reports on rising COVID cases. Lawyers can use hybrid mode. If you choose to appear online, we will hear you."

Lawyers With 10 Years Experience Are Eligible For Consumer Commissioner Post: SC

In good news for lawyers with bachelor's degrees, the Supreme Court (SC) paved way for them to be appointed as consumer commissioners. With this, lawyers who have an experience of 10 years are eligible for appointment as President and members of State and District Consumer Commissions. Judgement came on March 3, upholding the Bombay HC verdict, of quashing the rule, saying 20 years of experience needed for the appointment.

Bombay HC Asks Maharashtra Govt To Allow Benefit Of Local Train To All

As Maharashtra's disaster management authority did not permit all lawyers and court staff from traveling in local train, the Bombay HC questions government as to why have they restricted them to travel in local trains even after getting both the Covid-19 jabs.
