Karnataka CM Assures Legislation To Mandate Kannada Language
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said his government is bringing in a legislation to make Kannada "mandatory" in the State. On the Hindi Divas, September 14, Bommai said the announcement, which is expected to be after protest from the locals. Kannada activists have been demanding for many years now for full implementation of Kannada as the administrative language, which is now being considered by BJP-led State Government.

Parliamentary Debates, Lawmaking In Sorry State Of Affairs: CJI Ramana
CJI NV Ramana deplored the degrading standards of parliamentary debates and laws made by the legislature at the independence day ceremony organized by the SCBA. "Now we see legislation with the sorry state of affairs. There are a lot of gaps and a lot of ambiguity in making laws" he stated. He added that this creates a loss to the government and inconvenience to the public, increasing litigation.

Critics Of PLA Troops To Be Punished Under China's New Law
China has implemented a new law which holds criminal offence of those who make statements with an intent to defame the People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers. The law came into being as a result of the National People's Congress Standing Committee proceedings on June 10. According to the new law, people who defame or dishonor and insult or smear the reputation of the members of the armed forces will be held accountable.
