BJP's MLA R Selvam, New Speaker For Puducherry Assembly
The legislator from BJP, R Selvam was unanimously elected as the speaker for the Puducherry Assembly on June 16. As soon as the assembly convened, protem speaker K Lakshminarayanan made the announcement in the House. However, Selvam is MLA from Manavely constituency. Besides, he is also one of the first legislators of the territory and was elected by the Chief Minister N Rangasamy and Leader of Opposition R Siva.

INC Witnessed Most Defections From 2016-20; Major Joined BJP: Report
