Earthquake Of 4.8 Magnitude Jolts Leh’s Alchi
An Earthquake of 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Leh’s Alchi on September 16. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the Earthquake exactly occurred 189 km north of Leh’s Alchi. Furthermore, the quake had a depth of 10km below the ground, and occurred at 4:19 am. Notably, NCS is the nodal agency that monitors the earthquake activity in the country.

Umla Becomes 12th Village With Water Supply In Every Household: Leh, Ladakh
Umla, a village of Leh district in Ladakh, became the 12th village to have water supply in every household. Water supply in Umla is said to be life changing for people, who need not struggle to get water, especially during winter at sub-zero temperatures. The development was made under "Jal Jeevan Mission" of the Central Government, which assures to provide free water supply throughout rural India by 2024.

11 Fresh Covid-19 Cases Reported in Ladakh; Active Cases Stand At 58
As per officials, Ladakh reported 11 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the total to 20,941. Furthermore, the active cases in the union territory stands at 58. However, since the outbreak of the pandemic, 150 and 58 covid-19 related deaths were reported in Leh and Kargil respectively. Notably, as many as 20,675 individuals have recovered from the virus. Besides, zero fresh cases were reported in Ladakh on October 29.

World's Largest National Flag Made By Khadi Unfurled In Leh
In an unprecedented manner, the world's largest flag made up of Khadi, was unfurled by Lieutenant Governor R K Mathur in Leh on October 2. Reportedly, the Indian flag weighs 1000 kg and measures 225 feet by 150 feet. Army Staff Chief M M Naravane and Lieutenant General Y K Joshi, and other senior officials also attend the ceremony with about 500 people.

Ladakh's Zojila Tunnel Likely To Complete A Year Before 2026
The tunnel connecting Leh with Srinagar and the rest of India throughout the year is expected to be completed a year before its target year by 2026, said a senior official of the project, on September 27. Reportedly, this year construction won't be stopped during the winters as well. The 13-kilometre long bi-directional tunnel at a height of over 11,500 feet will cost Rs 4,600 crore to the exchequer.

Magnitude Of 4.6 Earthquake Hits Ladakh, No Casualties Reported
An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 has hit near Ladak's Leh in the morning of June 28. According to India's National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake was 86 km east-northeast of Leh at a depth of 18 km from the surface. The tremor was felt at around 6 am, however, no casualties reported so far.

A commemorative service honoring the Galwan Bravehearts will be held in the coming week, with the presiding commander of the Leh-based Fire and Fury Corps placing a wreath at the Leh Memorial. Due to an aggressive activities by the Chinese troops on June15-16, 2020 night, India lost its 20 soldiers at Galwan, Ladakh.
