Woman Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Kidnapping Minor & Demanding Ransom: UP

A court in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur has sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for allegedly kidnapping a boy and demanding ransom from his family in 2016. According to Advocate Pawan Kumar Dubey, Brajesh Shukla, wife Shalini Shukla and Sujata Thapa were accused in the case. Thapa being a minor, was dealt with by Juvenile Justice Board. While Brajesh died when the case is under trial, Shalini has been convicted.

SC Upholds Karnataka HC's Punishment Awarded To 4 Persons For 'Terror Plotting'

The apex court of India confirmed the punishment awarded to four persons involved in a terror plot. The accused were convicted and awarded life sentence, following a 2005 shoot-out in Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. In 2016, the Karnataka HC enhanced the sentence of seven-years imprisonment to life sentence. Reportedly, the shoot-out killing a professor, and left four other injured.

Kapurthala District Court Awards Life Imprisonment To Three Youths For Kidnap, Murder Charges

A Punjab court announced life imprisonment to three youths in connection with the kidnapping and gruesome murder of a 14-year-old boy for ransom. On July 5, Kapurthala District and Sessions Judge Amarinder Singh gave the verdict, in 2016 case. Notably, three youths, including a cousin of the victim kidnapped an industrialist's son and called for Rs 30 lakh ransom. Later, police found victim's body in a gunny-bag and registered case.

UP Court Announces Verdict In 2011 Barakali Accident Case

An Uttar Pradesh court convicted 16 people, including gangster Minu Tyagi, to life imprisonment in a murder case, on July 4. Special Judge Chhote Lal Yadav announced a judgement in the 2011 Barakali accident, killing former Chairman of Cane Society Rohana, Udayveer Singh and his family members. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000, on convicts found guilty under IPC sections 302, 307 and others.

Local Court Announces Life Imprisonment To 6 Accused In 1995 Murder Case

In Uttar Pradesh, a Pratapgarh local court sentenced life imprisonment to six people, accused in a 1995 murder case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 24,000 on each of the accused. Kripa Shankar, a local leader filed the petition in 1995, claiming Harivansh Tiwari; Anoop (Umesh) Om Prakash, alias Nanhe; Rajesh Kumar, alias Lallu; Anant Kumar Tiwari and Kamlesh Kumar Pandey, allegedly killed his nephew Suresh Narayan.

Maharashtra Man Gets Life Sentence In Wife's Murder Case

In Maharashtra, a court has sentenced life imprisonment to an accused Santosh Shelke (50) for killing his wife in 2018. The session court judge Shoukat Gorwade also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on the accused. Notably, Shelke killed his wife (40) suspecting love affair.  Announcing verdict, the judge said the prosecution has proved all charges against the accused beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced imprisonment.

Teacher Awarded Life Imprisonment For Sexually Abusing Minor Girl Inside School: Assam

Humayun Kabir, a teacher at a private school in Assam's Goalpara town, has been awarded life imprisonment by a local court, for sexually abusing a girl student inside the school premises in 2018. The court also slapped Kabir with a fine of Rs 50,000. Furthermore, upon failing to pay the fine amount, Kabir will have to undergo an additional one year of imprisonment.

Ratan Munda Sentenced To Life Imprisonment In Triple Murder Case: Odisha

Ratan Munda (40), who was accused in a triple murder case, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in Odisha's Mayurbanj district. Reportedly, Munda hacked two women and a boy to death, and caused injury to four others, including a woman, in an incident which occurred on March 31, 2013. Additional District Judge Karanjia, Prashant Kumar Mishra pronounced the judgement after receiving statements from 29 witnesses.

Life Imprisonment Awarded To Accused In Dalit Factory Worker Murder Case: UP

A special court in Muzaffarnagar trying the murder case of a Dalit worker, sentenced the accused to a lifetime of imprisonment, on April 15. The accused Popin Kumar, allegedly murdered his factory worker Sonu, for allegedly having an affair with his sister. Reportedly, Sonu's body was found in Ghasipura village. Furthermore, a fine of Rs 20,000 was also imposed on Kumar by Special Judge Jamshed Ali.

Special Court Announces Life Imprisonment To 10 People Under Honor Killing: TN

Madurai Special Court, announced life imprisonment to 10 people convicted in 2015 Tamil Nadu Dis-honor Killing Case, on March 8. Gokulraj, a 21-year-old Dalit boy, an engineer was killed for having a relationship with an upper caste woman and was dumped on Namakkal railway tracks. Furthermore, last week, the special court had convicted ten people and acquitted five under the horrific case of honor killing.
