UK Financial Crisis: PM Truss Calls On Emergency Meeting Days After Financial Market Chaos
Days after the financial market chaos in UK, PM Liz Truss is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting with finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng and Chairman of the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) Richard Hughes. According to the UK’s Treasury, the trio will discuss the budget forecast process and economic and fiscal developments since March. Meanwhile, Kwarteng has asked the OBR to submit first draft of economic forecasts on October 7.

Liz Truss defeated Rishi Sunak and is all set to become the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. On September 5, after rounds of vote counting, Liz Truss has been elected as the next PM, successor of Borish Johnson, who stepped down as the PM of UK. Liz beat her rival, former finance minister Rishi Sunak, by 81,326 votes to 60,399.

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss is leading the race to replace Boris Johnson as UK's next Prime Minister. Of the two contenders, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, Truss is heading the race by 90%, confirmed a local survey by Smarkets. Notably, released on August 1, the chances of Liz Truss has 90.0% winning chances. The leadership race was triggered after Johnson was forced to step down on July 7.

UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss Announces Her Candidacy For Prime Minister
With Home Secretary Priti Patel perhaps announcing her candidacy, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has formally entered the contest for the Tory leadership. Foreign Office minister Rehman Chishti has also entered the race, bringing the total to 11 Conservatives seeking to replace Boris Johnson as Prime Minister. Several of the 11 Tory leadership candidates have outlined conflicting tax policies as a key component of their platforms.
