Art Director Nitin Desai Died At 57, Police Suspect Suicide

Noted art director Nitin Desai has died. He was found dead at his N D Studio in Karjat on Wednesday morning. However, the initial reports suggest that he died by suicide and was said to default on Rs 252 crore loan, said sources. Further details about the cause of death are yet to be shared. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

Pakistan Minister Holds Meeting With IMF Over $7 Billion Loan

The Pakistani government has received a memorandum on the terms and conditions from the IMF for the completion of a USD 7 billion loan programme.  Pakistan Finance Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the development with awaited staff-level-agreement after a meeting with the IMF delegation. It is to be noted, Pakistan is facing a major economic crisis, and is looking for a loan to overcome the crisis.

IOB Manager Files Bank Fraud Case Against BJP Leader Manoj Kamboj: Mumbai

BJP leader Manoj Kamboj has been booked in a fraud case by Mumbai police, following a complaint field by the manager of Indian Overseas Bank. According to the complaint, the manager alleged that Manoj and two other directors of a company borrowed a loan of Rs 52 crore, and not used it for its intended purpose. The case has been filed under IPC sections 409 and 420.

SBI Increases Lending Rate By 0.1% Across All Tenures

State Bank of India (SBI), being the country's largest money lender has increased its marginal cost of funds based lending rate (MCLR), on April 19. The rate has been increased by 10 basis points (bps), or simply 0.1% across all tenures. Eventually, it is believed that all lenders are likely to follow the revised lending rate, in the days to come. With this, the EMIs will now cost more.

Debt-Ridden Weaver, His Wife and Son Commit Suicide: Andhra Pradesh

A weaver, his wife, and their son killed themselves after they were unable to repay their loans on February 1, in Andhra Pradesh. The family suicide pact was due to the high interest on the loans they had taken. The dead bodies are shifted to the government hospital for postmortem. As per the Police, a case will be registered for the same, and the harassment angle will be investigated.

Govt Releases Rs 2,714 Crores Under PM SVANidhi Scheme

The Central Government released Rs 2,714 crore, under PM Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi Scheme), on December 20. As per the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, a total of 30.75 lakh beneficiaries were sanctioned loans under the scheme, of which 27.06 lakh people received the benefits. The beneficiaries, who received money, Include 41% of women in India.

Digital Payment Company Paytm has newly launched Buy Now, Pay Later service called 'Postpaid Mini'. The scheme offers a 0% interest loan ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 1,000 for 30 days. However, the user will have to pay a convenience fee. "We want to help new-to-credit citizens start their credit journey... helps users manage their liquidity by clearing their bills or payments on time," Said CEO Bhavesh Gupta.
