Kenya's Daniel Wanjiru Banned from Contesting Marathons For Doping
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on October 15 issued a four-year ban to the former London Marathon winner Daniel Wanjiru for violating the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules. The Kenyan long-distance runner allegedly used a banned substance as his haemoglobin levels were high compared to his biological passport. Brigid Kosgei Holds On To London Marathon Title
Kenyan marathon runner, Brigid Kosgei, won the London Marathon 2020 title on October 4 with a timing of two hours and 18.58 minutes. Despite heavy rains, the runner managed to finish ahead of others. Kosgei, who won $30,000 along with the title, said they were not well-prepared, owing to the pandemic. However, she added that she will be prepared for good results next year.
