Auto driver Anoop, from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, has won this year’s Onam bumper lottery of Rs 25 crore. Anoop had reportedly purchased the ticket from Bhagavathy Agency on September 17. Reportedly, Anoop is a regular autorickshaw driver, who once worked as a chef. The lucky draw was done by the state Finance Minister KN Balagopal in the presence of transport minister Antony Raju.
Lola Allen of Fayetteville, North Carolina, won $264,419 and 5 jackpots, using a similar set of lottery numbers for the past 16 years. "From the very beginning, I've been using the same numbers," Allen said. "They are my favorite numbers, so I stuck with them, she added". Allen was one of the three players to match all five numbers, earning her a $264,419 share of the $793,257 jackpot.
Sadanandan, a painter and resident of Aymananam, has won Rs 12 crore in the Christmas-New Year bumper lottery in Kerela. Reportedly, on January 16, Sadanandan went out in the market to buy meat, when he bought the lottery ticket from a vendor. Hours after Sadanandan bought ticket, lucky draw took place in Thiruvananthapuram and he won the prize, which he will use to arrange better living for his children.
Anub Pillai, a 46-year-old Keralite residing in Dubai for last 21 years, won the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire lottery worth Rs 7 crore on October 21. The Dubai International Airport informed that Anub had bought the tickets on October 4. Reportedly, he is the 169th Indian to have won this lottery. Stating that he was purchasing the lottery for decades, Anub expressed, "A dream has come true for me."
