UP Police Arrests Muslim Teen Under Anti-Conversion Law
Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor police have arrested a teenage Muslim boy and charged him against the controversial "love jihad" law. Arrested on December 15, the police accused the boy of attempting to convert a 16-year-old Hindu girl. While the girl's father has made a complaint, the girl and her mother have denied the conversion charges. Meanwhile, the police have stated that the girl was kidnapped by the boy and escaped somehow.

UP Love Jihad: Police Accused Of Filing FIR "Just To Gain Praise"
The family members of Owais Ahmed, who was arrested under UP's newly passed anti-conversion law that targets 'love jihad', said the state police had forced the bride's family to file the FIR. Owais' father Mohammad Rafeeq said, "They [Police] beat me up and might be threatening the woman's family too." However, Bareilly (Range) DIG Rajesh Pandey has denied the allegations and said that the case was registered on merit.

Violators Be Careful; Uttar Pradesh Authorises Love-Jihad Law in the State
The ordinance bill for the 'Love Jihad' in the state of UP has been passed by the Governor Anandiben Patel on November 24. According to the law, a person is eligible for 10-years of prison or a fine of 15,000, if found violating the ordinance in any manner and comes in effect from November 28. After UP and Haryana, MP Plans to Bring Law to Discourage Interfaith Marriages
Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan said a law will be enacted against love-jihad if situation permitted. Vowing to teach a lesson to offenders, the CM said “There will be no jihad in the name of love. If anyone indulges in such a practice, he will be taught a lesson.” The indications came amid promises by BJP-led UP and Haryana, planning to make law against interfaith marriage last week.

Haryana Chief Minister Khattar Plans To Enact Law Against Love Jihad
Haryana government is eyeing to formulate law against "love jihad". Citing the recent murder of a student in Faridabad's Ballabhgarh, CM Khattar called for a law that would ensure that such incidents never get repeated. The announcement came a day after UP CM Yogi Adityanath called to enact a law against "love jihad". Endorsing Yogi's view, Home Minister of Haryana Anil Vij tweeted in support of legislation against the "serious issue".
