Bihar Farmers Destroy Tomatoes, Green Vegetables As Prices Hit New Low

Farmers in Bihar's Muzaffarpur continued their protest against low vegetable prices as they destroyed tomatoes and other green vegetables on May 11. The farmers stated they were unable to sell tomatoes even at Rs 1/kg while the transportation cost alone is Rs 4-5/kg, and were selling green vegetables for below Rs 2/kg. Reportedly, the farmers till now have destroyed crops, worth lakhs of rupees, grown over 17.5 lakh square feet.
