China’s Lunar Rock Samples Show Lava Flowed On Moon

China's Chang'e-5 mission revealed that the moon's surface oozed lava, some 2 billion years ago. A chemical analysis of the volcanic rocks confirmed that the moon remained volcanically active much more longer than its size would suggest possible. However, scientists did not find any radio active decay which are usually present in volcanism. "Young volcanism on a small body like moon is challenging to explain," said planetary scientist Juliane… read-more

China Hoists Its Flag on Moon, Becomes Only Second Country After US

China has become the world's second nation to hoist its flag on the lunar surface. It achieved the feat on December 4 during its on-going Chang’e 5’s space expedition to retrieve rock samples from the Moon. The Chinese unmanned mission has collected four pound of rock samples and has made a lift-off for return. The US’ Apollo 11 mission in 1969 was the first to plant any national flag on Moon.
