Assam Rifles Sets Up 47-feet Tall Christmas Star In Mizoram

Ahead of the Christmas, the Assam Rifles trooper erected a Christmas star, measuring 47-feet tall at Lunglei in Mizoram, said officials on December 13. The star is said to be the largest in the northeastern region. The Assam Rifles called it ''a beacon of hope with an aim to spread a message of togetherness for the local populace''. Notably, over six million Christians live in Mizoram, Nagaland, and Meghalaya.

Massive Forest Fire Erupts In Mizoram; Air Force Called For Rescue

The forests of Mizoram's Lunglei town are reeling through an inferno since April 25. Reportedly, the raging fire has crept in Lawngtlai district as the wildfire burned for more than 24 hours. The incident is believed to have occurred due to Jhum cultivation. Currently, the locals and governments agencies have been trying to tame the flames. Meanwhile, Indian Air Force has deployed Mi-17V5 choppers to douse off the fire.

Mizoram On Swine Fever Alert After 87 Pigs Die On India-Bangladesh Border

Mizoram is on an alert after 87 pigs died in Lunglei’s Lungsen village in the last two weeks. The exact reason is still unclear, experts suspect African Swine Fever behind the deaths.
