ECI Announces Election Schedule For Vice President Post

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on June 29, announced the election schedule for the Vice President of India, which is on August 6.  The official notification to decide the successor of VP Venkaiah Naidu will be issued on July 5. Furthermore, the last date to file nominations is on July 19, whereas scrutiny and withdrawal is on July 20 and 22, respectively. Results will be announced on August 6.

M Venkaiah Naidu Urges MPs To Follow New Seating Arrangements Amid COVID-19

M Venkaiah Naidu, the Chairman of Rajya Sabha released new seating arrangements for MPs, on January 31. With the beginning of the Union Budget session, Naidu urged  MPs of all the parties to follow the new seating, which has been in place due to ongoing COVID-19 third wave. Since 2020, the Parliament adapted new distance seating arrangements, which was avoided in the Monsoon session, held recently.

VP Venkaiah Naidu Arrives Kerala On 5-Day Visit

Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu, started his five-day journey to Kerala and Lakshadweep, on December 31. He arrived at Kochi airport and was welcomed by Kochi City Police Commissioner Nagarjuna, Ernakulam District Collector Jafar Malik, and others. Furthermore, he'll visit Lakshadweep on the same day and return to Kochi, on January 2, to attend various events. Venkaiah Naidu will leave Kochi on January 4 to Nagpur.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu Condemns Terrorist Attack On Police: Srinagar

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on December 13, condemned the terrorist attack on a police bus in Srinagar, killing two policemen and leaving 12 injured. "My deepest condolences to bereaved families and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured," tweeted Vice President. Reportedly, the terrorist fired upon the police vehicle near Zewan in Pantha Chowk. PM Narendra Modi has sought details on the terror attack, reported ANI.

Jose K Mani Takes Oath As Rajya Sabha Member: Kerala

Jose K Mani of the Kerala Congress was elected to the Upper House in a bypoll. Furthermore, he took the oath in English as a member of the Rajya Sabha on December 1. Rajya Sabha Chairman Refuses To Reconsider Suspension Of 12 MPs

The Chairman Rajya Sabha M. Venkaiah Naidu on November 30 rejected to reconsider the suspension of 12 Members of Parliament (MPs) of opposition parties. He said, "I am not considering the appeal of leaders of the opposition." Twelve MPs of Congress, Shiv Sena, Trinamool Congress, CPI (M), and CPI were suspended over their ''unruly and violent behavior'' on August 11 during the monsoon session.

Opposition parties including Congress, TMC, DMK and RJD walked out from the Rajya Sabha on February 2 after Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu rejected their demand for discussion over farm laws.
