Fire Breaks Out During Madurai's Santhana Mariyamman Temple Festival: Tamil Nadu

In Tamil Nadu's Madurai, during the celebrations of annual Santhana Mariyamman temple festival, a fire broke out. The fire gutted the temporary sheds, shops and vehicles. The sheds were laid to provide shelter to thousands of devotees that attend. Reportedly, no casualties were reported, and the fire was caused due to bursting of crackers. The Santhana Mariyamman temple festival takes place once a year, and is celebrated for a week.

Fire Breaks Out During Temple Festival In Tamil Nadu's Madurai; Zero Casualties Reported

During the annual Santhana Mariamman temple festival in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, a fire broke out on June 8. Temporary structures, stores, and automobiles were destroyed by the fire. The devotees were able to get away from the fire. The fire was caused by the exploding of crackers, as per the fire department officials. The fire was eventually contained. There were no fatalities recorded.

Amid the COVID-19 restrictions in Tamil Nadu, a Madurai-based couple's wedding has gone viral as they conducted their marriage ceremony onboard a passenger flight. The couple - Rakesh and Dakshina - had booked an entire two-hour Madurai to Bangalore flight that hosted 161 guests.
