Maharastra Police Arrests 2 People For Theft At Watch Shop
Two persons were arrested for allegedly decamping with watches worth lakhs of rupees in Thane, Maharashtra, on January 22. A police official said the duo are from Jharkhand and were identified as Shahalam Fazlu Shaikh, and Rundal Niranjan Singh, who were decamping with watches worth four lakh rupees, and were nabbed from railway station. The police recovered watches, and an offence has been registered against the duo.

Over 200 Cops In Maharastra Succumb To COVID-19 Infection: Report
As many as 265 Maharastra police personnel have succumbed to the COVID-19 infection so far, while there are 2,145 active cases in the state police. The highest number of COVID-related deaths, which is 126, has been recorded in state police personnel posted in Mumbai. Notably, Maharastra reported 46,723 new COVID cases, and out of this, 16,420 new cases were recorded in Mumbai.

BJP Leader Pravin Darekar Tests Positive For COVID-19
Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader and a Maharastra Legislative Council Pravin Darekar has tested positive for COVID-19, on January 5. Besides, three Shiv Sena leaders including Urban development minister Eknath Shinde were also tested COVID-19 positive earlier. Shinde was tested positive for second time since last year. The leaders have urged all those, who came in their contact, to undergo COVID-19 test.

'BEST' Will Only Induct Electric Buses In Its Fleet Says Aaditya Thackeray
Maharashtra environment minister Aaditya Thackeray said we've planned to induct only electric buses in the fleet of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) to fight built ''eco-friendly Mumbai metropolis'' at the BMC headquarters on October 4. Besides, he also said the BEST would run the double-decker buses only on electrical energy or hydrogen fuel cell. The entire fleet of the BEST would be turned into electric buses by 2028.

Pune Records First Case of Zika Virus In 50-Year-Old Woman
Following Kerala, Maharashtra has reported its first case of Zika virus infection in a 50-year-old woman from Pune's Purandar. However, the woman endured full recovery and her family members are reported to be safe. Reportedly, the team of the National Institute of Virology (NIV) visited Purandar who collected the blood samples confirmed the case. Notably, Aedes mosquitoes are the source of the virus, which also causes Chikungunya.

Maharashtra: Explosion In Chemical Firm At Raigad District Kills Two People
At least two people were killed and six got injured in an explosion at a chemical firm in Maharashtra's Raigad district. The incident happened in the wee hours of November 5. Police said that one of the deceased was a woman. The injured peopled were rushed to a hospital and about 16 fire-engines were called to extinguish the fire. Moreover, the explosion has also affected the adjacent civic areas.
