Mahatma Gandhi Statue Vandalised In Canada's Toronto; Indian Govt Expresses Outrage

Mahatma Gandhi's statue situated in a temple in Canada's Toronto, was vandalised on July 13. The 20-feet statue is situated in a Vishnu temple in Greater Toronto Area's Richmond Hill. Following the incident, Indian government expressed its outrage to Ottawa. Furthermore, a pro Khalistani message was left on the vandalised statue. A member of the temple board said that this is the first time such a thing has occurred.

Congress Leaders Appeal Against Replacing Mahatma Gandhi's Statue: Secunderabad

Senior Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy along with other Congress leaders, appealed to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, against replacing Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Secunderabad's James Street with another statue. Reddy claimed that the TRS government intends on erecting another statue, and shifting the Gandhi statue to a less prominent place. He further stated, "It reminds us of Tuglak's rule. We are against it".

Maharashtra Police Take Custody Of Kalicharan Maharaj Over 'Hate Speech'

Maharashtra police took custody of controversial religious guru, Kalicharan Maharaj, on January 5, in connection with the alleged hate speech. The program was organized by Samast Hindu Aghadi in Pune on December 19, in which derogatory remarks over Mahatma Gandhi were made. The other accused in the case are Mohanrao Shete, Dipak Nagpure and Capt. Digendra Kumar. Maharaj was arrested from Khajuraho and his bail was rejected by the court.

The Hindu Mahasabha said in a statement, that it will be making a statue of Nathuram Godse from the soil brought from Ambala Central Jail, where the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi was hanged.
