Breaking! Mobile, Broadband Internet Resumes In Manipur

After months of internet suspension, the Manipur Government on July 25, resumed internet and broadband services. The internet was shutdown in the violence-hit Manipur since March 16, after a fight between the Kuki-Meitei community over scheduled tribe status. However, the Government resumed the internet with certain conditions. The Government also assured a better situation and under control situation.

Leave For Your Own Safety, Warns Militant Organisation To Meiteis In Mizo

After the recent Manipur violence incident, the State Government has planned to airlift Meiteis from Mizoram, one of the two communities engaged in violence with the Kukis, from Aizawl. This comes after an organisation of former militants in Mizoram asked all the Meiteis to leave their homes for their “own safety”. The organisation stated that there is “anger among Mizo youths” over the two women sexual assault case.

Manipur Govt Extends AFSPA Act For Another Year Amid Disturbed Conditions

The Manipur Government extended AFSPA in the State for another year terming the region as "disturbed area". On January 11, Special Secretary H Gyan Prakash issued the statement which read, "The Governor of Manipur is of the opinion that due to violent activities of various extremist/insurgent groups, the entire state of Manipur is in such disturbed condition," said Prakash.

Amit Shah Lays Foundation Stone For Projects Worth Rs 2,450 Crores: Manipur

Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for 29 development projects, on January 6, in Manipur. Shah launched projects worth Rs 2,450 crores, through virtual meeting, held at Delhi office. "Be it mountains, valleys, forests, villages or cities, Biren Singh has achieved success in bringing development everywhere," said Shah.  He also appreciated efforts of BJP Government in Manipur, aiming development.

Earthquake Of Magnitude 3.8 Jolts Ukhrul: Manipur

In Manipur's Ukhrul, an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 on the Richter scale was reported by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) on November 9. Reportedly, tremors were recorded at a depth of 60 kilometers at 9:47 am in the Shirui area of Ukhrul. Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 4.4 on the Richter scale was also recorded on November 9, in the Ukhrul district of Manipur.

Manipur Govt Appeals Medical Officials To Mute Ambulances' Sirens

The Manipur government has appealed medical officials for silencing of ambulances' sirens to reduce the COVID-19 panic and anxiety. The state's medical directorate in its statement said, "Only if the roads are blocked, sirens should be activated." Earlier, the government had extended the curfews in the districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Thoubal, Kakching and Churachandpur till May 28.
