Mappila Pattu

V.M. Kutty, who is known for ''Mappila pattu'' songs in Malayalam, passed away in Kerala at the age of 86 due to heart disease on October 13. Reportedly, Kutty's songs, mixed with the Arab-Malayalam language, are very famous among the Muslim community in Kerala. He scripted over 1,000 songs, wrote many books on music, and also won the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi award for his talent.
