Italian Govt To Prosecute Marines Accused Of Killing Indian Fishermen

The Supreme Court has ordered that the Italian government will prosecute the two Italian Marines who had killed two Indian fishermen in 2012. Besides, the court also stated that it would also direct the Italian government to pay a compensation of Rs 10 crore to the families of the fishermen. Notably, governments of both the countries have already agreed upon the compensation part.

Italy Initiates Compensation To Kins Of Indian Fishers Killed By Marines

Italy has initiated the transfer of Rs 10-crore compensation to the kins of the two fishermen killed by Italian marines off the Kerala sea coast. Earlier, on Supreme Court's order, the Centre instigated to close the cases against two Italian marines- Salvatore Girone and Massimiliano Latorre for February 2012 killing of fishermen. Reportedly, the Centre told SC that the money will be deposited in apex court as soon as received.

Italy Agrees To Pay Rs 10 Cr Compensation To Kin Of 2 Killed Fishermen

Italy has agreed to pay Rs 10-crore compensation to the kin of two Indian fishermen killed by Italian marines. The Centre on April 9 informed the Supreme Court about the latest development in the 2012 case in which the fishermen, misunderstood as pirates, were killed off the Kerala coast. While Rs 4 crore will be given to the each fisherman's family, Rs 2 crore is for the injured boat owner.
