In a relief to homosexual, the Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Centre to find a way to give same-sex couples basic social benefits, like joint bank accounts or nominating a partner in insurance policies, even without legal recognition of their marital status. The statement came during an ongoing hearing into a bunch of PILs filed in the Top Court, seeking legal validation for same-sex marriage in India.

The most talked about couple in B-town, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani is all set to tie the knot at a grand event in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, on February 7. Celebrities from B-town, the fashion industry and relatives arrived at Jaisalmer's Suryagarh Palace to attend the grand marriage. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann will have a private marriage ceremony, for a second time on July 7.  The AAP leader Bhagwant Mann (48) got separated from his first wife in 2015 and has two children from his first marriage. Now, he will marry Dr Gurpreet Kaur, who belongs to Pehowa in Haryana's Kurukshetra, said AAP's Punjab Unit Chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh. Notably, the event will be a private affair.

In line with an old tradition for assuring abundance, the mayor of a small Mexican town wed a seven-year-old alligator on June 30. "We ask nature for enough rain, for enough food, that we have fish in the river," said Mayor Victor Hugo Sosa. The reptile is said to be a divinity symbolizing mother earth, and her marriage to the local chief represents the union of people and the divine.
