As per the data released by the government on January 27, Maharashtra has vaccinated 14,60,85,843 people, with 4,79,13,433 individuals aged 18-44 years recieved COVID-19 first dose, while 3,23,85,264 received second dose so far. Coronavirus infections have hit new highs in Europe, making the continent the epicenter of the pandemic. China administered complete COVID-19 vaccination doses to 76.3% of its population by November 19, said Wu Liangyou, an National Health Commission (NHC) official. According to NHC spokesperson Mi Feng, 1.076 billion people in the country have got the required number of doses for their COVID immunization. Besides, a total of 65.73 million people have also received COVID-19 booster vaccine doses, added Wu.

White House Chief Medical Adviser and infectious disease specialist Anthony Fauci on May 3 advised India to clamp a nationwide lockdown for a limited time-period as immediate solution. Fauci also advocated mass vaccination which would help solve the ongoing crisis on a mid-term basis. Besides, he backed setting up of makeshift field hospitals which, he recommended, should be done with the help of armed forces.
