8-Year Ban On Spaniard Lopez Perez For Match Fixing In 2017

The Tennis Integrity Unit on December 1 has imposed an eight-year ban to Spanish tennis player Enrique Lopez Perez for match-fixing in three instances during 2017 and has fined him for $25,000. The Anti-Corruption Officer Richard McLaren has found the 29-year-old tennist guilty for breaching the rule thrice, while two other allegations went unproven. Perez had a career-high singles ranking of 154 and doubles ranking of 135 in 2019.

French Open: Prosecutors Begin Probe In Match-Fixing Allegations

After match-fixing allegations surfaced during a French Open Women's Doubles match, French prosecutors are set to investigate the matter. The match on September 30, between the Romanians Andreea Mitu and Patricia Maria Tig versus Russian-American duo Yana Sizikova and Madison Brengle, came under scrutiny after prosecutors alleged "fraud in an organized group". Reportedly, a huge sum of money was bet over the Romanians winning the game.
