Overcrowded Mathura’s Banke Bihari Temple Causes Suffocation; 2 Dead, Six Injured

During Janmashtami celebrations on August 19, two people died of suffocation and six others were left injured after Banke Bihari temple in Mathura got overcrowded. The incident occurred during Mangla Arti, when two people died of suffocation, and another devotee fainted near the exit gate causing a disruption in the crowd movement. The deceased have been identified as Nirmala Devi and Ram Prasad Vishwakarma.

Van Driver Assaulted Over Suspicion Of Smuggling Cow: UP

A van driver was beaten up by cow vigilantes in suspicion of cattle smuggling in Mathura district of UP. A Muslim man was held in captive and assaulted by the mob, as per reports. A video has gone viral of the man getting beaten and verbally abused. SP M.P. Singh told that the van was heading towards Sikandra Rao in Hathras, which was then stopped by the local residents.

The devotes celebrates the festival with Abir Gulal, flower petals, and sweet laddoos. "From lath marr holi to pholo ki holi, everything is celebrated here," said a devotee. "Celebrating Holi with Thakurji (God) here in Raman Reti on this auspicious occasion is luck for everyone present here," said a saint.

Huge Crowd Gathers At Banke Bihari Temple, One Dies Of Suffocation: Mathura

A devotee who had come to visit the Banke Bihari temple at Vrindavan in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, died of suffocation due to pressure from a mob. As per reports, the 65-year-old man, Laxman, was brought to the hospital by his relatives in an unconscious state where the doctors declared him dead. Notably, the temple management said that it has no information about the death of any devotee at the moment.

Teen Offered Lift, Drugged & Raped In Mathura

A 19-year-old teenager, travelling with her mother from Haryana to UP, was allegedly intoxicated and raped in a car. The duo was thereafter dumped on the roadside in Firozabad. According to the police, the woman and her mother work as labourers in Haryana. They were travelling to their home in UP and took a lift in a car. Notably, FIR has been registered based on survivor’s complaint and medical examination.

Train Derailed In Mathura, Traffic Halted: Uttar Pardesh

The rail traffic between Mathura & Delhi was halted following the derailment of Ghaziabad-bound cargo train, sources said on January 22. The incident took place on January 21 at about 11:30 pm, when several coaches of the train derailed, due to which both up and down routes and the third line were affected. The coaches were loaded with cement, and hundreds of men have been deployed to remove the coaches.

Section 144 Imposed In UP's Mathura To Tackle Religious Violence

In Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district, section 144 has been been imposed on November 28. The announcement came after a right-wing group reportedly said they'll install an idol of Lord Krishna in the Shahi Eidgah on December 6. ''No one will be allowed to do any mischief,'' said Gaurav Grover, SSP. Notably, a local court is already listening to the petitions pertaining to the removal of the 17th-century mosque.

CM Yogi Inaugurated Pepsico's Largest Greenfield Food Plant At Mathura: UP

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on September 15 inaugurated Pepsico's largest greenfield food plant at Kosi Kalan in Mathura. To boost India's industrialization and to double its production by 2022, Pepsico announced an Rs 814 crore project in 2019. To fulfill the companies growing demand, it will source raw material from 5000+ local farmers from UP. It also aims to provide 1500 direct and indirect jobs (30% to women employees).
