Atleast 38 Dolphins Carcasses Found on Mauritius Beach After the Oil Spill
Atleast 38 dolphins have died till August 28 on the island of Mauritius near the oil spill site. The spill was caused by a Japanese ship, MV Wakashio, that hit a coral reef on July 25, and started leaking oil after a week. A government official from the Fisheries Ministry, Jasvin Sok Appadu, said, "I can confirm we have so far found the carcasses of 38 dolphins."

1000 Tons of Oil Leaked Into Indian Ocean; Experts Fear Ecological Crisis
The Japanese carrier which ran onto a coral reef off Mauritius on July 25, is feared to have set-off a major ecological crisis. At least 1000 tons of oil is said to have been leaked into the Indian Ocean. Reportedly, the carrier had passed through the annual inspection in Japan. "The ship has now stopped leaking oil, but the nation must brace itself for worst case scenario," said Mauritius PM.
