Maxime Vachier-Lagrave

In the opening round of the Norwegian Chess Tournament's classical segment, Viswanathan Anand beat Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. The Indian GM earned three points after defeating the French player late on May 31. Anand had stunned the world champion, Magnus Carlsen, in match seven of the blitz tournament held before the Classical, finishing fourth.
