Tokyo Olympics: Boxer Mary Kom Out Of Tournament After Her Defeat

Six-time world champion and a bronze medal winner from the 2012 London Olympics MC Mary Kom departed from the Tokyo Olympics after she lost to Colombia’s Ingrit Lorena Victoria Valencia in pre-quarterfinals women's 51kg. Reportedly, the 38-year-old boxer clinched a win two out of the three rounds. "It is a disappointment but that's luck I guess", said her coach Chhote Lal Yadav, who is also Kom's personal trainer.

Asian Boxing Championship: Gold For Pooja, Mary Kom Bags Silver

In the finals of the Asian Boxing Championship, India's Pooja Rani has secured a gold medal after defeating Uzbekistan's Mavluda Movlonova in the 75kg category. Mary Kom Hints Retirement, Says Tokyo Olympics Will Be "Last"

The Tokyo Olympics will witness the final appearance of Indian ace-boxer and six-time world champion Mary Kom. “Tokyo will be my last Olympics, age matters here. I’m 38 now, going on 39," said the boxer who had earlier qualified for the Olympics, defeating a younger challenger in 2019. Mary said she feels proud of herself and want more girls to embrace the sport. She had won the bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics.
