India Installs Medical Oxygen Plant In Nepal, Says Will Continue To Support
A medical oxygen plant was gifted to Nepal by India on August 26, in an effort to help the Himalayan nation fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The oxygen plant was installed at the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. The plant has a total capacity of 960 Litres Per Minute (LPM). It may therefore serve 200 patients at once. They added that India will continue to support Nepal.

Bangladesh Becomes First Country To Receive LMO Via India's Oxygen Express
The Ministry of Indian Railways has announced that India's oxygen express will transport the Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) for "the first time ever'' to its neighboring country Bangladesh. Reportedly, the train will leave with 10 containers rake for Benapole to deliver 200 metric tonnes of LMO. Notably, India started the train on April 24, 2021, for supplying oxygen across the country.

Reliance Emerges As Largest Medical Liquid Oxygen Producer In India
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has emerged as the largest medical-grade liquid oxygen producer in the country. RIL’s single manufacturing unit in Jamnagar and other facilities possess daily production capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes (MT) daily i.e., 11% of the total oxygen supply in the country. While the oxygen is being provided for free to several states, RIL has supplied 55,000 MT of oxygen across the country since March 2020.

Maruti Suzuki Prepones Maintenance Shutdown To Save Oxygen
Maruti Suzuki on April 28 announced that it has preponed the maintenance shutdown to May from June to make medical oxygen available for the patients in need. The company's manufacturing units in Haryana and Gujarat will remain shut from May 1 to 9. Maruti said that although the company uses a small amount of oxygen, they "believe that all available oxygen should be used to save lives."

DRDO To Set Up 500 Medical Oxygen Plants In 3 Months: Defence Minister
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on April 28 said that the DRDO will install 500 medical oxygen plants from the money allocated out of the PM Cares Fund. To be installed within next three months, the DRDO will use its indigenous technology designed for Light Combat Aircraft ‘Tejas’ to overcome the COVID-led oxygen crisis. The DRDO’s medical oxygen plants are designed to generate 1,000 litres of oxygen per minute.

Centre Invokes Disaster Mgmt Act To Ensure Uninterrupted Oxygen Supply
To ensure uninterrupted activity on vehicles carrying medical oxygen across the country, the Centre on April 22 invoked Disaster Management Act 2005.
