Telangana Rolls Notification To Recruit 50,000 Temporary Medical Staff
Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed the officials to temporarily recruit around 50,000 MBBS graduates to tackle the COVID-19 situation in the state. Telangana CMO tweeted that this step would lessen the burden on the Health Department. The government released a notification that includes the recruitment of nurses, lab technicians with remuneration details in it. Applicants can apply online on or before May 22.

China Ready To Help India In COVID Fight; Says World Needs To Unite
China is ready to help India as the country is witnessing an increasing number of COVID-19 cases, said Wang Wenbin, spokesperson of Chinese Foreign Ministry on April 22. Wenbin said China is aware of the severe shortage of medical necessities at this moment and '’..the global community needs to unite as one to fight against epidemics.'’ However, the details of assistance that China is willing to provide are unknown.

Gujrat High Court Slams State Government On COVID-19 Situation
In a suo motu case hearing at Gujarat HC on April 12, the court disagreed with government’s explanation on handling the COVID-19 situation in the state. However, the reality is different from the government version and people have ‘trust deficit’ issues. The court objected to the shortage of Remdesivir injection and the government has not done enough on testing facilities. The state witnessed 5,469 cases on April 11, highest ever.

Telangana: Woman Delivers In Hospital Washroom; Baby Dies
In an appalling instance, a pregnant woman had to deliver a baby inside the washroom of a government hospital as there was no doctor to attend her. More so tragic was the fact that the newborn could not survive in absence of the medical assistance. The incident happened on December 23 in Telangana's Vikarabad district. Angered by the alleged medical apathy, locals gathered at the hospital and demanded stringent actions.

AIIMS Delhi Nurses To Hold Indefinite Strike From December 14
The AIIMS Nurses Union has declared an indefinite strike on December 14 after accusing the administration of not fulfilling their demands. The nurses have asked for redressal of their demands, including the 6th Central Pay Commission. AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria has called the strike 'unfortunate'. Moreover, he has appealed the nurses to resume working and help the nation "get through the pandemic."
