Elections For Next President of Sri Lanka Underway, 3 Candidates In Fray
The elections for the new President of Sri Lanka is underway in the Island nation, on July 20. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Dullas Alahaperuma are in the fray, whereas 255 members of the Parliament house are eligible to vote for the next President of Sri Lanka. Notably, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the former President of Sri Lanka resigned amid the ongoing protest against the worst economic crisis in Sri Lanka.

PM Modi Upset Over Absence Of BJP MPs During Rajya Sabha Meeting
To discuss the passing of bills in Rajya Sabha several BJP MPs did not turn up for the meeting on August 9. Reportedly, PM Modi was upset and thus took up the issue at the weekly meeting on August 10. Further, he asked for the names of the absentees in the meeting. Besides, the core issue of the meeting was Tokyo Olympics. PM requested to encourage sportsmen in rural areas.

New Zealand Elects Priyanca Radhakrishnan As Their First Indian-Origin Minister

EC Announces Election Dates For 11 Rajya Sabha Seats
The Election Commission (EC) on October 13 announced the election dates for 11 Rajya Sabha seats, which are set to expire on November 25. The elections will be held on November 9, between 9 am to 4 pm, followed by the counting of votes from 5 pm. The nominations for the same will have to be filed by October 27. The 11 seats include 10 from Uttar Pradesh and one from Uttarakhand.
