Greece Boat Capsized: 209 Pakistanis Onboard Reportedly Dead

In one of the deadliest sea accidents, at least 209 Pakistanis were on an overloaded boat that capsized and sank in open seas off Greece last week. Loaded with over 700 people from Pakistan, the boat capsized, following which a search operation was launched. In addition, the officials issued a list including names of 11 missing people, who hailed from Pakistan and going to Greece as migrants, illegally.

Sri Lankan Navy Detains 51 People Attempting To Illegally Migrate To Australia

Sri Lankan Navy apprehended 51 individuals on July 3 who were trying to illegally migrate from Sri Lanka to Australia by sea. Due to the country's ongoing economic crisis, this was the fourth such instance in the previous week. On July 2, a team comprising the Navy, Sri Lanka Coast Guard, and police apprehended 24 people near Marawila on the western coast, all of them accused of illegally migrating to Australia.

Death Toll Jumps To 51 Of Migrants Discovered Dead In Texas Truck Incident

After being left in a tractor-trailer without air conditioning in the oppressive Texas heat, 51 people perished. The truck driver and two other individuals were detained. The bodies were found when a city worker spotted the vehicle on the outskirts of San Antonio on June 27. At the scene, 46 persons were found deceased. Five other people died after being transported to hospitals.

Texas Migrants' Truck Found With 46 Dead, 16 Hospitalized, Including 4 Children

After being stranded in a tractor-trailer on a secluded back road in San Antonio, 46 people were found dead and sixteen people were hospitalized, including four children on June 27. This was the deadliest disaster involving migrants trafficked across the border from Mexico to the United States. According to San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, the 46 people killed had “families who were likely trying to find a better life.”

At least 57 Migrants Die In Shipwreck Off Libyan Coast

As many as 57 people are missing and presumed dead after a boat carrying African migrants capsized off Libya's coast on July 26, United States Migration official Safa Mhsehli confirmed. Almost 18 of the migrants were rescued and taken to the shore by fishermen and Libya's coastguard. At least 20 women and two children were among those who drowned. The boat left on July 25 with 75 people on board.

Greek Authorities Continue Search And Rescue Operations Off Coast For Missing Migrants

Off the coast of the southern island of Crete, Greek authorities began a search and rescue operation on July 23, for several migrants who went missing after their boat carrying them sank due to high winds. So far Greek authorities have rescued 37 migrants including one child and a woman on the night of July 22. The submerged boat total had 45 migrants on board.

2-Year-Old Kid Sent To Welfare After Found Abandoned In Mexico

Mexico's immigration officials have come across a truck previously crammed with 100 migrants trying to enter the US border on June 28. However, the authorities have discovered an abandoned 2-year-old kid along with a 25-year-old dead man and eight others. After the doors were opened, most of the migrants ran into the vegetation near the highway, said one of the survivors.
