Three Army soldiers were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Friday, officials said. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the higher reaches of the Halan forest area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir following inputs about the presence of terrorists in the Kulgam region. The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired at the security forces.

In an unfortunate incident, an unruly crowd burnt down the house of Manipur's only woman minister. Notably, on June 14, the mob se BJP minister Nemcha Kipgen's house on fire. While no injuries or casualty was reported as nobody from the minister's house was at home, the property was damaged. Three militants were killed in two separate confrontations with security forces in Kashmir on June 20, according to Kashmir police. In the last 24 hours, seven ultras have been killed. Two militants were killed in a recent exchange of gunfire in the ongoing encounter in north Kashmir's Kupwara region, bringing the total number of militants killed in the overnight operation to four. Since the last update, operations have been in progress.

In Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, a Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist and one more were killed in an encounter with security forces on May 8. The gunfight in the Cheyan Devsar area of the south Kashmir district broke out after security forces launched a cordon and search operation based on intelligence input. The deceased militants were a Pakistani named Haider and another is identified as Shahbaz Shah.
