Coal Production To Be Increased To 2 Million Tonnes Per Day: Coal Crisis
Amid the reports of shortage of coal in several Indian states, the government has decided to increase the production of coal from 1.94 million to 2 million tonnes per day within a week. Reportedly, Covid-19 pandemic and rains are reportedly the primary cause behind the shortage in states that have its own mines such as Rajasthan, West Bengal, and Jharkhand. Besides, imports of foreign coal also fell by 12%.
