Congress Leader K Sankaranarayan Passes Away At 89 In Palakkad: Kerala

Senior Congress leader K Sankaranarayan (89) breathed his last at his residence on April 25, in Kerala's Palakkad. Sankaranarayan served as the governor of Maharashtra, Nagaland and Jharkhand. In Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Goa, he held additional charges of governor. He was elected into the Kerala State assembly at least four times, and was also the convener of United Democratic Font (UDF), for 16 years.

Union Labour Minister Called Out For Announcing Low Interest Rate

Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhury called the union labour minister for  announcing the lower revision of the interest rate for the middle class working Indians and "feeling good' about it. Chaudhary tweeted, “Feels good to pour salt into wounds of those who are bearing the brunt of inflation?”  The comment came after Labour Minister Bhupendra Yadav lowered interest on Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to 8.1% from 8.5%.

Govt Revises EV Rules, Allows Charging From Existing Power Connection

The Union Government revised rules of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging. Issued on January 17, as per new rules, EV owners are now allowed to charge their EVs using existing power connection at homes/offices. In addition, the Centre also approved government land allotment to private entities (with highest bid) to set up Public Charging Stations (PCS) for EVs, in phases. Notably, EV sales are expected to increase by 2030.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on September 16 tested positive for COVID-19. The minister informed through Twitter that he had been feeling unwell since September 15 and, during health check-ups, he was found COVID-19 positive. The minister has isolated himself and asked people who had came in contact with him to take health precautions.
