Union Govt Blocks 8 YouTube Channels For Anti-National Content
In order to prevent anti-national content spread, the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) blocked eight YouTube channels. AITMC Proposes West Bengal Name Change To Bangla: Nityanand Rai
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said they have received a proposal to change the West Bengal State's name to Bangla. On July 19, during the second day of the Monsoon Parliament Session, the Ministry of State in MHA Nityanand Rai confirmed the received proposal and said, the MHA doesn't have any such revamped guidelines for heritage city name change. Notably, Saida Ahmad of the All India Trinamool Congress proposed.

India COVID-19 Cases Update: Reports 3,207 Cases With 29 Fatalities
India's Covid-19 cases are rising constantly with over 3,000 single-day cases. On May 10, the MoHFW registered 3,207 new cases with 29 deaths and 3,410 recoveries from the deadly virus. Vivek Agnihotri Gets Y Category Security Amid The Kashmir Files Controversy
Director Vivek Agnihotri has been granted Y category security by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The decision came after his recent release "The Kashmir Files" which became controversy, due to its brutal depiction of exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, hurting communities. Govt Issues Revised Guidelines For International Travelers With Relaxations
Coming as a relief to international passengers traveling to India, the Government allowed 14 days self monitoring. Previously, travelers needed to undergo a seven-day mandatory quarantine which has now been changed. India Reports Decline In COVID-19 Cases With 71,365 New Cases
India reported decline in COVID-19 cases for the second consecutive day with 71,365 fresh cases. India Announces 'E-Emergency X-Misc Visa' To Fast-Track Applications
As the Taliban takes over Afghanistan, many countries including the US, Canada, India, and others are making efforts to evacuate people from the war-torn nation. In the wake of this, to help the Afghan refugees, the Union Home Ministry on August 17 announced a new category of visa, 'e-Emergency X-Misc Visa' that will help fast-track the process for their entry into India. Moreover, the Hindu and Sikh communities will be prioritised.

No Decision Yet On Nationwide NRC, Centre Tells Lok Sabha
The Ministry of Home Affairs said in parliament that the Centre is still uncertain to decide on a nationwide National Register of Indian Citizens (NRC). Home minister Amit Shah in 2019 committed that NRC will be implemented nationwide before the 2024 general elections but only in Assam. However, the Centre will consider the 2021 census to update the National Population Register (NPR).
