AITMC Proposes West Bengal Name Change To Bangla: Nityanand Rai

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said they have received a proposal to change the West Bengal State's name to Bangla. On July 19, during the second day of the Monsoon Parliament Session, the Ministry of State in MHA Nityanand Rai confirmed the received proposal and said, the MHA doesn't have any such revamped guidelines for heritage city name change. India COVID-19 Cases Update: Reports 3,207 Cases With 29 Fatalities

India's Covid-19 cases are rising constantly with over 3,000 single-day cases. On May 10, the MoHFW registered 3,207  new cases with 29 deaths and 3,410 recoveries from the deadly virus. India reported decline in COVID-19 cases for the second consecutive day with 71,365 fresh cases. India Announces 'E-Emergency X-Misc Visa' To Fast-Track Applications

No Decision Yet On Nationwide NRC, Centre Tells Lok Sabha

The Ministry of Home Affairs said in parliament that the Centre is still uncertain to decide on a nationwide National Register of Indian Citizens (NRC). Home minister Amit Shah in 2019 committed that NRC will be implemented nationwide before the 2024 general elections but only in Assam. However, the Centre will consider the 2021 census to update the National Population Register (NPR).
