Minor girl

In a heartbreaking incident, a 35-year-old rape convict, allegedly raped a minor, a week after being released from jail. Notably, the accused was identified as Rakesh Verma (35,) who was serving a jail term for raping a minor, but was released earlier amid his good behaviour, but committed the heinous crime again and raped a minor in the Satna region of Madhya Pradesh. The victim is said to be critical and undergoing treatment.

In Andhra Pradesh's Nellore district, a minor girl was attacked with acid and her throat was slit, by a relative. On September 5, police confirmed the incident, victim's relative entered the house and attempted rape when she was alone. When the victim resisted, the accused attacked her and fled. The Nellore police registered a case and launched a probe. In addition, the victim is undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital.

Delhi High Court on July 13 rejected a plea against a conviction and punishment under the POCSO Act for raping a young girl in her home in 2014. The High Court found that the appellant had exploited and breached the victim's parents' trust by taking on the role of guardian in their absence. In June 2021, the trial court sentenced him to life in prison for at least 14 years. 

A gas delivery man was arrested for molesting a minor girl at her home in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, on February 3. According to police, the gas delivery man came when the 16-year-old girl was alone at home and attempted to molest her. The minor screamed for help, which alerted neighbors, who rescued the girl and thrashed the accused. The complaint is lodged and an investigation is underway.

In a shocking incident, two men, Shubham and Ashish reportedly gang-raped a 17-year-old girl on the pretext of offering her fruit at a garden of guava trees in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, said police on September 20. Reportedly, both the accused did the crime on September 19 and also recorded the video of the incident to share on social media. However, the police are yet to nab both the accused.
