The National Commission of Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) requested the government to implement the Right to Education and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan campaign in minority schools. The NCPCR said ''minority schools are outside the purview of the RTE Act'' as no action will be taken against them for not admitting students from such backgrounds. Overall, 62.50% of students from such schools belong to non-minority communities, the report said.

Justice Mahmud Jamal, the first official SC's Judge who belongs to a minority background in the history of Canada. However, Jamal was appointed on June 15 by the PM Justin Trudeau.
