Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu Bags Gold Medal At 36th National Games
Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu expectedly won the gold medal with a total lift of 191 kgs in the women's 49kg weightlifting competition at the 36th National Games, held in Gujarat. The event was held on September 30, in which Chanu bagged a prestigious medal. Recently, the athlete claimed the Commonwealth Games gold medal in Birmingham in August, after lifting 84kg in snatch and 107 kgs.

Mirabai Chanu Wins Gold At Singapore Weightlifting International
Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu has been qualified for the Commonwealth Games 2022 in the 55kg weight category by clinching the gold at the Singapore Weightlifting International, on February 25. In addition, competing in the 55kg weight class for the first time, Chanu lifted 191kg (86kg+105kg) to stand on top of the podium. Notably, Singapore Weightlifting International is a qualifying event for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Union Railway Minister Announces Rs 2 Crore Reward To Mirabai Chanu
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw congratulated and felicitated India's Mirabai Chanu, the silver medal winner in weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The Minister at the ceremony announced a reward of Rs 2 crore along with a promotion for her in the Northeast Frontier Railway. "She has inspired billions around the world with her talent, hard work, and grit," said the Union Minister.

Mirabai Chanu Wins First Silver Medal In Weightlifting At Tokyo Olympic
Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has won the silver medal in the woman's 49-kg category by lifting 202 kg at the 2020 Tokyo Games on July 24. Meanwhile, China's Zhihui Hou and Indonesia's Windy Cantika Aisah secured Gold and Bronze respectively. Chanu has become the second woman medalist after Karnam Malleswari's Bronze in weightlifting. Besides, Chanu won the first medal for India at the game.

'I Am Competing With Myself', Says Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu
Mirabai Chanu, the Manipuri weightlifter who is ready to showcase her talent in Tokyo Olympics on July 24 said “I am competing with myself". She is participating in this Olympics five years after she was ruled out as her five out of six lifts were considered invalid in Rio. The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the strongest contenders who is likely to challenge China’s Hou Zhihui.

SAI Approves Sanction for Mirabai Chanu to Get Training in USA For Olympics
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) approved the sanction of Rs 40 lakhs for the weightlifter Mirabai Chanu to undergo overseas training before the Tokyo Olympics. The fund was granted as a part of Target Olympic Podium Scheme and allotted Rs 1.5 crore to the players of six different sports. Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju stated that this exposure will help Chanu explore in her Olympic preparation.
