Uttar Pradesh: Ex-IAS Officer Booked For Tweeting False Information
The Uttar Pradesh Police on May 13 booked former IAS officer Surya Pratap Singh for allegedly spreading misinformation about the bodies floating in River Ganga. As per the police, Singh posted a seven-year-old picture and claimed that 67 dead bodies were buried recently in an undignified way using JCB in Unnao. A screen-shot of a tweet in which Kamala Harris criticized the Indian government for suppressing farmers' protest has been flagged as fake by Facebook, stating it has been manipulated. Reportedly, the actual tweet was posted by a Canadian MP Jack Harris on November 27. However, the viral tweet was falsely attributed to Kamla Harris. Harris's representatives also clarified the matter and said, "Yes, this [tweet] is fake".
