Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Pradeep Maharathy, who was suffering from COVID-19, died at 65 on October 4. Reportedly, the senior BJD leader and former Odisha minister was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneshwar on September 14 after he was diagnosed with COVID-19. Maharathy had undertaken many portfolios during his political career, and was awarded Global Agriculture Leadership Award in 2016 and Krishi Karman Award 2014-15.

Two expelled Rashtriya Janata Dal MLAs, Maheshwar Prasad Yadav and Prema Chaudhary, joined the ruling Janata Dal-United in Bihar on August 17. With the water level of the rivers rising above danger levels in Assam, BJP MLA Mrinal Saikia has made it his responsibility to save people from the flooded areas. They claimed that they were being chased by Police from MLA lodging in Jaipur to Dungarpur 500 km away. Two MLAs from the Congress Party have been tested positive for Coronavirus. The party's office got shut down after three more employees tested positive. "Our party MLAs, Ajay Singh from the Jewargi Assembly segment in Kalaburagi District and Prasad Abbayya from the Hubli-Dharwad East seat tested positive on Friday and are under treatment at the designated hospitals," Party's spokesman M.A.Saleem told IANS.

CM Ashok Gehlot, on June 10, has obliquely hinted that the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party is trying to destabilise the Congress-led government in Rajasthan as they did in Kamal Nath's Madhya Pradesh by luring some MLAs. He alleged some of his party lawmakers have been offered Rs 10 crore each in advance of the promised sum of Rs 25 crore.
