Senior BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy Passes Away Due To COVID-19


Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Pradeep Maharathy, who was suffering from COVID-19, died at 65 on October 4. Reportedly, the senior BJD leader and former Odisha minister was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneshwar on September 14 after he was diagnosed with COVID-19. Maharathy had undertaken many portfolios during his political career, and was awarded Global Agriculture Leadership Award in 2016 and Krishi Karman Award 2014-15.

Two Congress MLAs Test Positive For COVID-19

Two MLAs from the Congress Party have been tested positive for Coronavirus. The party's office got shut down after three more employees tested positive. "Our party MLAs, Ajay Singh from the Jewargi Assembly segment in Kalaburagi District and Prasad Abbayya from the Hubli-Dharwad East seat tested positive on Friday and are under treatment at the designated hospitals," Party's spokesman M.A.Saleem told IANS.
