Tabrez Ansari Finally Got Justice, Accused Convicted In 10 Year Jail Term

The accused of Tabrez Ansari, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, were convicted. The verdict came four years after Tabrez Ansari was lynched by a mob in Jharkhand, a court in Seraikela on July 5.  The court handed all ten convicts a 10-year jail term under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC, in mob lynching case. Notably, two accused were acquitted, while one died during the trial.

Mob Lynched 56 Year Old Man Suspecting He's Carrying Beef: Bihar

In a horrific incident, a 56-year-old man was lynched amid suspicion of carrying beef. The incident occurred on March 9, in Bihar's Siwan district. The victim was identified as Naseem Qureshi, a resident of Hasanpur village. He was going to meet someone with his nephew, when a mob allegedly intercepted them at Jogia village and thrashed Nazeem Qureshi with wooden sticks. Police arrested three people and launched investigation.

Lok Sabha Member Demands Law Against Mob Lynching

In Lok Sabha's 'Zero Hour' MP Danish Ali raised mob lynching issues and demanded to enact a law against it. Notably, amid the rising mob lynching cases in India, especially in Uttar Pradesh, Ali said, "The central government is fast asleep, it has not enacted such a law." He also emphasised the judgment of the SC, which asked the Central Government to curb the rising mob lynching cases in India.

2 Arrested For Lynching 26-Year-Old Youth In Tripura Village

Another lynching incident was reported in Tripura village, on March 29. Two people allegedly thrashed a 26-year-old Litan Miah, after they suspected him to be a cattle lifter for smuggling. Soon, locals also joined the two accused, identified as Sentu Debnath (40), and Amal Chandra (50). The police rushed to the spot and took seriously injured Litan to hospital, where he died. Police arrested the accused and launched an investigation.

Villagers Attack Police After Youth Dies In Custody: Bihar

Angry mod of village attacked the Belthar police station in Bihar on March 19, after the demise of a youth in the custody. Notably, the mob injured many on duty officials and burnt police vehicles in the area.  On March 20, police said, they arrested 14 people involved in the violence and lodged complaint. On Holi, during patrolling, a youth named Aniruddha Kumar Yadav was playing loud music and arrested.

Gau Rakshaks Assault Muslim Man In UP's Moradabad, Cops Book Him

A self-claimed cow vigilante group on May 23 assaulted a Muslim businessman in UP’s Moradabad for allegedly killing an animal. Filing a case against the group, the police recorded a counter case against the victim with charges under act of ‘mischief by killing an animal.' While four of the attackers were arrested, two as still on run. Reportedly, the meat seller had no permit for transporting meat amid lockdown.
