India’s retail inflation eased marginally to 6.44% in February after three-month high of 6.52% in January. The new inflation will burn pockets of consumer as prices continued to be above the Reserve Bank of India’s so-called tolerable limit of 6% for two straight months. On March 13, the RBI released the data, which said the food and beverages inflation index stood at 6.26% during the month against 6.19% in January.

Telangana MLC K Kavitha took a dig at Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who made a remark against the K Chandrashekar Rao-led Telangana Government. On February 16, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC said, "If the Modi Government cannot unlock the potential of the nation, don’t blame the States. Telangana is a progressive State and if you cannot think progressively, please don’t blame us,” She blamed Centre for being non-serious.

The Income Tax Department said there will be no extension in IT-Return filing. Notably, the Government decided not to extend the last ITR filing date which is July 31, as the Union Government wants to bring normalcy, disturbed amid Covid-19 pandemic.  Tarun Bajaj, Secretary, Revenue said, "Hats off to taxpayers and professionals who burnt the midnight oil to file IT returns". Till July 31, over 56 million ITRs were filed.
