Chitrasen Sahu, a specially-abled double leg amputee mountaineer from Chhattisgarh, climbed one of Europe and Russia’s highest mountain peaks, Mount Elbrus at a height of 5,642 metres. Nepal Urges Everest Climbers To Bring Back Empty Oxygen Cylinders

The Nepal Mountaineering Association on May 10 urged the Mt Everest climbers to bring back the empty oxygen cylinders for reuse. Experiencing the second COVID wave, Nepal is facing acute shortage of oxygen and cylinders. It is estimated that climbers and their Sherpa guides have carried nearly 3,500 oxygen cylinders during April- May. Reportedly, the cylinders are either left after the expeditions or they get buried under in avalanches.

Nepal Bans Haryana Mountaineers For Faking Mount Everest Summit

Over accusations of counterfeiting, Nepal's Tourism Ministry (MoCTCA) has dismissed the summit certificate issued to Haryana-based mountaineers Narender Singh Yadav and Seema Rani besides fining guide and organisers. 10 Nepali Mountaineers Create World Record By Climbing K2 In Winter

For the very first time in history, a group of 10 Nepali nationals climbed the world's second-highest mountain K2 during the winter. The mountaineers set a world record by climbing 8,611-metre-tall K2 situated in the Karakoram range. One of the mountaineers said on social media, "History made for mankind, History made for Nepal." Reportedly, during winters in K2, the temperature drops to minus 60 degrees with strong cold winds.
