Woman Assistant Police Inspector at Meghawadi Police Station on June 11 has filed an FIR of being raped by three men in Mumbai. According to her statement, the first man had an affair with her after which he made an indecent video and shared with two others. "The case has been shifted to Powai police station under zero FIR. No arrests... search is on for the three accused," said Police.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in Mumbai for June 12 and a red alert for June 13, due to a heavy rainfall. The civic control rooms and other agencies including the power utility firms like BEST and Adani have been issued a notice of "high alert". Squads from NDRF and Navy are made ready to assist in case of an emergency.

In a tragic incident, 11 people were reported dead after a four-storey residential building collapsed in Malvani area of Mumbai on June 9, after the city witnessed a heavy rainfall. While seven more have sustained serious injuries, the fire brigade has rescued 15 other people with the help of police and residents. Taking a precautionary measure, the BMC has evacuated three nearby buildings which were in the same condition.

Advancement of monsoon season brought heavy rains in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra on June 9. The Indian Meteorological Department recorded rainfall at 50.4 mm and 65.4 mm in Mumbai. According to the Chief PR Officer of Mumbai Central Railway, heavy rains have caused waterlogging on tracks, thus cancelling train services. Earlier also, the IMD warned four days of heavy rainfalls in the city since June 9.

The Mumbai Police on June 1 arrested YouTuber Jeetu Jaan for allegedly murdering his wife Komal Agarwal who was found hanging from a ceiling fan at their residence. Initially the death was declared accidental but police later arrested Jeetu after Komal's family accused him of killing her. According to the deceased's family, Jeetu routinely assaulted Komal over household chores. Meanwhile, autopsy report is awaited to clear the doubts.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archwell Foundation has partnered with the World Central Kitchen to set up a community COVID relief centre in Mumbai. The centre plans to function as emergency response kitchen or vaccination site along with becoming food distribution hub, school, clinic or community gathering space for families during "calmer times". Manhar Muni Desai, a 70-year-old monk who was convicted of molesting a teen in march 2012, has committed suicide at a Jain temple in Mumbai. As per police officials, “Desai was found hanging from a ceiling fan by one of the temple workers.” Desai was given a two-year jail term sentence earlier this month but his arrest got delayed due to the pandemic. He also left behind a suicide note.

As the cyclone Tauktae has wreaked havoc, the Indian Navy on May 17 saved 146 out of 273 people aboard a barge from sinking into the sea near the Mumbai coast. The rescue operation to save the remaining 127 people, who were on life jacket support, is still being carried out. Warships INS Kochi and INS Kolkata executed the operation in collaboration with offshore vessels Greatship Ahlaya and Ocean Energy.
