Air India Passenger Sent To Jail For Unruly Behaviour

Another incident of unruly behaviour by passenger in a flight was reported. In Mumbai, an Air India passenger was sent to jail, after he misbehaved with the crew members and was caught smoking in the flight.  Later, when he was asked to pay bail amount of Rs 25,000, the accused identified as Ratnakar Dwivedi, he refused to pay the cash amount claiming bail amount to be Rs 250.

Mumbai International Airport Switches To Green Energy

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has switched to green sources for its energy consumption needs. Notably, the airport has procured around 5% of the airport's electricity requirement through its onsite solar generation and the rest 95% from other green sources such as hydro and wind energy, said a statement by CSMIA. Mumbai DRI Arrests 1 Person In Drugs Case, Seizes 16 Kg Heroin

In Mumbai, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested Binu John, a resident of Kerala, for smuggling drugs. The DRI also seized 16kg of heroin which is worth more than Rs 80 crores at the international airport, after receiving information of a man carrying drugs, which was later found in his fake cavity. The DRI also made an arrest in the case and registered a case under the NDPS Act.

Mumbai Airport Receives Mail Warning About Bomb On IndiGo Plans; Security Tightened

The Mumbai International Airport received an email warning about a bomb on an IndiGo airplane, informed officials on October 2. Following the bomb scare, security has been tightened at the airport. The information has been termed a “hoax”. The flight which was mentioned in the mail, was delayed and checked thoroughly. After dismissing the claims, the flight continued to take off and land at Ahmedabad without any hassle.

NCB Nabs Supplier Of High-Grade Black Cocaine Coming From Brazil At Mumbai Airport; 3.20 Kg Seized

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 3.20 Kg of black cocaine coming from Brazil at Mumbai airport and nabbed the supplier, on September 29. The accused, a Bolivian lady was reportedly travelling from Brazil to Goa with layovers at Addis Ababa and Mumbai. She was carrying the drugs in 12 tight packets, making use of her luggage’s false cavity. A Nigerian national has also been arrested from Goa regarding the same.

Will Smith Spotted At Mumbai Airport, 1st Public Appearance Since Oscars Incident

Hollywood actor Will Smith has made his first public appearance since the Oscars incident at the Mumbai airport. He was spotted waving at the paps. The 'Men in Black' actor had received a global backlash last month after physically assaulting comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars over a joke. He has been banned from attending 'The Oscars' for a whole decade now. This is not Will's first visit to India.

BEST Launches Direct AC Bus For Airport Terminal 1, 2: Mumbai

In order to make airport travel easier for Mumbai people, the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) launched a new AC bus service for travelling from terminals I, and II, which are 5 km apart. On April 7,  the BMC flagged off the bus, connecting the two terminals, at a price of Rs 50, one-way. The new service would help passengers  to avoid expensive Uber rides, and time.

Adani Acquires Mumbai Airport, Controls 33% Of India's Air Cargo

According to a press release, the Adani Group acquires Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) and will begin construction of the greenfield airport in Navi Mumbai. Adani owns a 74% stake in MIAL. Meanwhile, in addition to the six airports, Adani now possesses MIAL. The multinational conglomerate will control 25% of the passenger traffic and 33% of India's air freight, making it India's largest airport infrastructure company.
