Bombay HC Asks Maharashtra Govt To Allow Benefit Of Local Train To All

As Maharashtra's disaster management authority did not permit all lawyers and court staff from traveling in local train, the Bombay HC questions government as to why have they restricted them to travel in local trains even after getting both the Covid-19 jabs. Notably, the frontline workers and government staff are allowed to travel. ''A decision needs to be taken. Otherwise, what's the benefit of the vaccine?", the court said.

Mumbai Cop Saves Elderly Man From Being Driven Over By Train

A Mumbai Police constable SB Nikam has rescued a 60-year-old man from getting driven over by a local train at Mumbai’s Dahisar station. Reportedly, the man was trying to cross the platform over the tracks and had to return to the track as his shoe got stuck. Warning him, Nikam reached out at the edge of the platform and pulled him up at the right moment. He slapped the man for his wrongdoings.

Heavy Downpour Leaves Parts of Mumbai Waterlogged

Parts of Mumbai received heavy rainfall on the night of September 22, leading to disruptions in local train services and waterlogging in certain areas. In a tweet on the morning of September 23, Mumbai's civic body Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said, "Train services on the Central and Harbour lines have been suspended due to waterlogging". BMC has also declared a holiday for all offices and establishments.

Mumbai: Suburban Trains to Accomodate 10% of Private Bank Employees

The Indian Railways on September 19 allowed 10% of the workforce in private and co-operative banks to travel by Mumbai suburban trains. Reportedly, the decision was taken after Maharashtra government's request. However, the staff have to obtain a QR ID code from the state government, or use valid ID Cards to buy tickets until QR code is available. Besides, the number of sub-urban trains will be increased to 500, starting September 21.

Mumbai: Dabbawalas Seek Permission to Travel in Local Trains

Mumbai's Dabbawala community has requested permission from the Maharashtra government to travel in the local trains.
