Mumbai Local Derails While Entering Kharkopar Station, Zero Casualties Reported

In Mumbai, three coaches of the Belapur to Kharkopar local train derailed while entering Kharkopar station. The incident occurred around 8:46 am on February 28, confirmed Railway Police. Man Travelling Without Ticket For 23 Years Caught At Mumbai Railway Station

In a bizarre incident, a man named Paresh Arvindbhai Patel has been held for allegedly travelling without a ticket for 23 years and, when asked, used to avoid ticket checking by claiming to be "railway staff."  However, during a special drive against the ticketless passengers, Patel was caught with a revelation that he was not the staff but the railway contractor. A case has been registered and investigation underway.

AC Local Trains Fare To Be Reduced By 50% In Mumbai

The Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve announced air-conditioned local trains fare in Mumbai less by 50%. On April 29, Danve addressed the media in an inauguration of the restored heritage building of Byculla railway station and announced the new fare to be Rs 30. Previously, the AC local train fare was Rs 65 for a distance of 5 km. Notably, it was a Mumbai people's long-pending demand.

Youth Died After Falling From Over Crowded Local: Maharashtra

A 22-year-old- youth died after he fell from an over crowded Mumbai locals, on March 23. The incident happened between Goregaon and Malad station, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The Borivali Government Railway Police said that a case has been registered and assured further investigation in the matter. Notably, the identity of the youth, who board the train from Churchgate is yet to be revealed.

QR Passes For Mumbaikars To Board Local Trains: Mayor Kishori Pednekar

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar informed on August 10 that QR passes will be available to fully vaccinated Mumbaikars at 65 railway stations allowing them to board local trains from August 15. The QR codes will aid the railway authorities to substantiate the authenticity of people traveling in local trains. Besides, an app will be launched where passengers with smartphones can download QR passes.

Fully Jabbed People Can Use Mumbai Locals From Independence Day

Mumbai local trains will resume from August 15 for fully vaccinated people as declared by Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on August 8. Online and offline issuing of passes will be made available to the passengers. Passengers can issue their monthly train passes through an app, while photo passes will be available at the ward offices and train stations for fully jabbed people who lack smartphones.
